Starter for beginners book recipe

I’ve just started my first starter using the recipe from the beginner’s book. I’m surprised that there is no discard for the first six days. Any advice???

It should be fine and has worked well for me on three different occasions. I recently made this gluten free sourdough starter and it does have daily discard. My sense is that there are many ways to arrive at the same destination.

I was totally reminded of the feelings of worry and hope when making a new starter when I was doing the GF one! I hope your starter is doing well.
