Will a cracked romertopf bake good loaves?

Hi everyone, I’m looking at getting into bread baking and I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience baking with a cracked romertopf? I can pick one up secondhand pretty cheap, but it has a crack in it. So I’m just wondering if it’s worth it or should I just buy one brand new? Here’s a picture of the romertopf with the crack visible.

I don’t think that little hairline crack in the cover will affect it functionally. My guess is that it will work fine for baking bread until/unless it really cracks and falls apart. So the risk is that happens sooner rather than later and you end up wasting the money because you have to then buy a new one anyway. I guess in your shoes, for me it would depend on how cheap is “pretty cheap”.

Yeah, i’ve decided to err on the side of caution and buy one brand new, cheers!
