I think I did something very stupid... please advise

Hi !

So I got a bread recipe from my dad and bought all the ingredients today. It also mentioned 1 bag of sourdough powder, I bought the sourdough starter as I couldn’t find anything else. I put it straight into the dough, together with 15g of rapid rise instant yeast and 750gr rye flour.

I have a feeling that the powder my dad is using is just sourdough powder for flavoring, not a starter bag… :grimacing:

So I guess my question is, can I throw it straight into the bin or will I maybe able to eat the result.

Thanks for your reply,
Pony

Bit of a late reply. While I have never used anything like this it sounds like sourdough flavouring to be added to yeasted breads. Don’t think you need to throw it out and you can eat the results. As a matter of interest which is the make so I can take a look. Do you wish to go down the sourdough route?
